this music moves me

there's this playlist i've compiled over the last 3 weeks. i find myself drifting to sleep every night listening to the same songs...and i am not sick of it yet. it's about time more people started to listen to artists like dj shadow, anjali and the audio bullys. if you've never listened to dj shadow, you should go to one of those places that offer free, illegal downloads and get "6 days" and "midnight in a perfect world." there really isn't anything like it.

dj shadow aka josh davis is someone who i hope plays at coachella this year. his album "endtroducing" is the closest thing to a perfect cd i've listened to in a long, long time. i actually know people who've cried after listening to him play "midnight" live (and not in that weird, "oh my god, i can't believe justin timberlake just pissed on my face" kind of way). the whole album is this compilation of old vinyl samples that you know you've heard somewhere, but can't quite place. the musicians who made them are part of that breed of forgotten people from decades past. and yet their music lingers on through dj shadow.

and anjali? her music's just sexy. you know the type...easy on the eyes, voice that could make priests give up celibacy, and more talent in her little finger than titney spears, j-blo and n'fink put together. "stinging sitars" makes you think of 60's spy movies...that's the best description i could come up with. definite must buy for people who like (or know) the supreme beings of leisure.

and now for an object lesson in how not to make music, check out mr britney spears, kevin federline, in the studio here, and the hilarious james lipton version of the song here. popozao?!?! why don't you just feed us monkey sperm and elephant turds, disco d?
